I completed my first pet portrait order post-baby. It is great to be back at the easel, and Emma seems fascinated as she watches me paint. Perhaps, we have a budding artist in the family. I hope I am able to keep up with my painting as she grows. I want her to always feel empowered to follow her passions even if some aren't a big "money-maker" so to speak. When we look back over our lives, we should feel like we lived it to the fullest. My hope is to always rise to the occasi
I am so grateful for the new miracle in my life-- my daughter. A new whole person. A life I am responsible for. It has been not only a wonderful learning experience, but also an exhausting journey that makes you wonder, "Will I ever get to do the things I used to?" Life happens Big life events happen to us all-- whether it's a birth, moving, getting married, or getting a new job. It is important to give yourself space to enjoy the newness. When my daughter was born, I did not
I have finally completed the fairy-visited enchanted forest series for our baby girl! I dropped these off at the frame shop yesterday and cannot wait for the final masterpiece to hang in her nursery. I have disguised the letters of her name in each illustration. Let's see if you can figure it out. I hope she enjoys these for years to come. The materials I used for these pieces are watercolor paper, aqua markers, and India Ink pens in Sepia. #fairy #fairies #watercolor #aquama
We are having a girl! It is so surreal to look at your child on an ultrasound. What a miracle! Now, that we know what our baby is, I can start decorating her nursery. I have decided to draw her a fairy-visited enchanted forest series where each drawing will loosely resemble a letter of her name. There will be some woodland creatures intertwined in each composition, too. I made the choice to draw my own fairy illustrations because I could not find the precise style, color, and
The art install at the VCA Wrightsville Beach Animal Hospital went very well! I have very special thanks to my husband, Jason, for all of his assistance. It is a great thing to have a partner that enjoys helping you explore your passion. If you are lucky enough to have a person in your life like that, don't let them go! The four portraits I hung at our local vet's office were two portraits of dogs (Luca and Oliver) and two portraits of cats (Milo and an unnamed neighborhood c
We just moved to Wilmington, NC where my husband grew up. This will be the first time I have lived outside of South Carolina, so I am feeling pretty adventurous! I have been unpacking, nesting, and looking for a day job, which has not left a lot time for painting, yet. I cannot wait to explore the town more and discover possible subjects for my paintings. I think along with the move to a new state, I would like to continue to devote even more time to my art. Almost everything
I want to upload some of my previous artworks. These are from high school, college, and a couple from this last year. With this post, i am hoping to establish what my baseline skill level is, and from there, see how i improve or how my style evolves. This a painting of my dog, penny, she is a 9 week old puppy here. This is my most recent work. I did this painting approximately 1 year ago...2014. My goal is to couple this piece with her as an adult using the same color pallet.
Hello! I'm Katherine Bryant, and I am starting something new solely for the purpose of creating and exploring art for myself. I have not dedicated a lot of time to honing my art skills since before I left college, so I am feeling a little bit rusty and nervous about this endeavor. I will be 30 years old soon, so I thought that along with earning another decade under my belt should be allocating time to something I have been passionate about since I was 6 years old. There is a
